GROUP PICTURES

This week we have had the last lesson of Arts & Crafts of the academic year. That’s why we finished the lesson with some group pictures.

ROSES

The week before “Setmana Cultural”, during the Arts & Crafts lesson, we were doing roses for Saint Jordi (on April 24th ).

Those roses were done, mainly, with EVA foam. We used some templates to make the petals and the leafs and then, we glued it together with hot silicon. We used as well a stick and green tape in order to make the stem of the rose.

CLAY DRAGONS

Since before Eastern holiday, we have been working for “Sant Jordi”. We have been preparing clay dragons, and during the “Setmana Cultural” the students from 5th grade will vote for the best dragons of 6th grade. Here, we have the description that Mireia and Gael wrote about this activity:


First, we drew a dragon on a paper and we painted it, but before, we watched photos of dragons in order to have an idea.
The second day we watched the video “How to make a dragon with clay” and we started our dragon with clay.
This dragon will be in the halls, for the 5th grade children to vote the day of Saint Jordi.

1st ENGLISH DAY

On April 8th, some schools of Cerdanyola (Fontetes, Collserola, Sant Martí, Serraparera, Carles Buïgas, Xarau and La Sínia) organize the 1st English Day. During that event, our pupils will have the opportunity to play with other children from other schools while learning English.

For that day, in the arts and crafts lessons, we were preparing posters to announce this event. Each pupil made her/his own one and between all the posters we will choose the bests ones to make the official poster and publish it around the city.

THE ARTS & CRAFTS DIARY

Since few days, we are developing a new way to work in this subject: the arts & crafts diary. In this diary, we will compile all the works that we will develop all along the rest of the academic year.
For each activity done in arts & crafts, the pupils will write the date that they finished it; the name of the activity; the materials that they used; and a brief description of the activity (how they did it, the steps that they followed…).

In addition, in this diary there is a dictionary section where the pupils will collect the new words that they will learn during the lessons.

CARNIVAL MASKS

As we celebrate Carnival in few days, after Christmas holiday we started working on that. Sílvia, the student from the university who is doing her teaching practices in 6th grade, developed this activity.
She proposed to our pupils to make masks with cardboard. She gave them a simple model, and they had to make their own shape freely. After that, they painted them with tempera paint and we decorated them with different kind of materials such as coloured paper, glitter, plumes...

AUTUMN LANDSCAPE

As it’s autumn, the season when the trees lose their leaves, we drew and painted an autumn landscape in order to work the colours of autumn: the warm colours.
First, we saw some examples of autumn landscapes in order to have an idea about what to draw. Later we drew and painted our landscapes with crayons, using warm colours such as orange, yellow, brown, red… we could also use some cold colours if it’s needed. To finish the activity, we passed some paint (yellow or orange) over the entire picture to make it darker and create an effect like the sunrise or the sunset.
